Brands Hatch 25 & 26th July 2015
Rounds 8 & 9

Changeable conditions made for exciting racing at Brands Hatch on the famous indy circuit. The Friday test was wet but fortunately John has previous experience of Brands in the wet so the team could concentrate on dialling in a good wet set up. Saturday morning was bright and the track was dry for qualifying. The team made the necessary adjustments to the car and John qualified P3 for both races. The circuit was still dry when race one took place but this did not stop drama unfolding. At the start John had a slow start and was relegated to P4 by Harrison. Before the first lap had been completed two cars in the race class came to grief and ended up in the barriers. The race was red flagged and the cars reformed on the grid in qualifying positions for a full restart. John's restart was much better slotting into P2 behind Luke Pinder with Nic Harrison and Jake Honour behind him. As the race played out Lidsey and Honour battled throughout and both ended up having time penalties applied for exceeding track limits at the end of the race, neither of which affected the result. John found himself defending from Harrison which allowed Pinder to open a gap and make the most of the clear track ahead. Speaking after the race John said: “That was my first time in all of the situations we had – first Safety Car, first red flag in a race, so it was all new to me.” A solid and well earned P2 finish is his best result of the season so far.
On Sunday the wet weather had arrived and produced one of the best races of the year so far. The top five were close together and anyone was in with a chance of taking the win. In the second half of the race Pinder and Honour were swapping places for the lead every lap with a three way battle between John, Harrison and Lidsey close behind. At the checkered flag Honour took the win from Pinder. Lidsey claimed the last spot on the podium and Harrison held off John to take forth.
Overall a successful weekend in tricky conditions. The team where able to make the return journey north with some silverware and an undamaged Clio which was not the case for some of the other teams! Series Highlights can be found on youtube by clicking here

PP Motorsport looks to the future after race car success
A sponsor has been successfully secured to fund the purchase of a Clio Cup 200 race car. The deal has been completed in time for reigning Road Series Champion, Anton Spires, to take the wheel for the last two Michelin Clio Cup Series meetings of the season before starting his campaign for a Race Class title in 2016. John has also confirmed that he will be competing the road series again in 2016.
The sponsor, who at this time has asked to remain anonymous, approached the team soon after the launch of the crowd funding share scheme. As the team are in talks with more drivers for the 2016 season the scheme will be relaunched in the future to expand the team and provide opportunities to promising young drivers. Details of sponsorship and hospitality packages for 2016 will be released in September after the last round of the season at Silverstone.
